Dow Water & Process Solutions is the leading supplier of ion exchange resins and processing technologies to the mining industry and is continually developing new and better methods for primary metal separations in cobalt refining and chromium plating, providing efficient and cost-effective removal of metal contaminants from chemical process streams, plating solutions and rinse water.

Mining & Hydrometallurgy Applications

COBALT

Dow’s chelating resins allow cobalt refiners to produce high grade cobalt more easily than other technologies. Recent, new developments at Dow allow us to offer more versatile chelating resins for a wider range of cobalt feed-stocks.

COPPER

Dow has developed a new chelating resin that retains a high copper selectivity, while allowing for acid elution of the copper from the resin. Dow Water & Process Solutions’ current pilots include low-cost copper recovery processes.

GOLD

Ion exchange resins are versatile substrates that can be tailored to improve selectivity, resistance to poisoning by calcium or organic materials and loading capacity.

MOLY & RARE EARTHS

Dow offers several resins that are well suited for a wide range for metal separations including molybdenum, rhenium, Rare Earths and PGMs.

NICKEL

Dow chelating resin is distinctly suited for recovering nickel from very acidic process streams.

URANIUM

Specially-designed strong-base anion exchangers made by Dow Water & Process Solutions fix anionic complexes when high concentrations of other anions such as sulfates, carbonates or ferric sultates are present. Fixed-bed or continuous systems are used for both loading and elution steps.

WATER AND ACID RECOVERY

Ion exchange is a well-proven technology to reduce chromium, cadmium, nickel, copper, lead and zinc metal wastes in metal plating industry applications. This technology is particularly suitable for the treatment of process rinse waters and of the waste effluent.

OTHER

Ion exchange resins are highly versatile tools for the removal and recovery of a wide variety of trace metal contaminants as well as in preparation of mine water for recycling or discharge.
