WaterSolutions Ultrafiltration (UF) System Optimization Services (SOS)

Dow Water & Process Solutions offers module and fiber testing services to its customers for a nominal fee. Module or fibers can be tested to troubleshoot problems in ultrafiltration systems. In addition to test results, we provide a complete report with a description of the tests performed and the implications of the test results on your operation. Several test packages are available.

UF SOS testing will include:

• Module Physical Inspections

  A non-destructive test to observe the physical integrity and fouling degree of the module. Fiber repair will be done following the integrity test if applicable.
  
  

• Module Performance Testing

  A non-destructive test to determine how the module is performing at standard test conditions compared to new product specifications.
  
  

• Module Cleaning Recommendation

  Chemical cleaning will be done for performance recovery. Effective module cleaning method will be recommended.
  
  

• Module Autopsy and Fiber Analysis

  A destructive test that requires the module to be cut lengthwise to allow the evaluation of the fibers and other materials of construction.
  
  

• Foulant Analysis

  • Identification of fouling (organic and inorganic)
  • Elemental analysis for inorganic foulant
  • Compound analysis for organic foulant
    
    

• Water Analysis

  A full water analysis is available with turbidity, pH, silica, metals, and TOC counts.
  
  

To order SOS testing, please complete the UF SOS Request Form and send to UFSOS@Dow.com. Shipping instructions and a Return Authorization number will be provided by the UFSOS Coordinator then.
